Iowa Watershed Academy

The Watershed Academy is a twice-yearly training specifically for watershed coordinators and those that work with private landowners to implement conservation practices. It has been offered since 2016. The training topics are informed by the Watershed Academy Advisory Council, which is made up entirely of conservation professionals who have previously attended the training. Topics vary, but are usually a mix of technical/agronomic, behavior change/social science, and communications/marketing topics. The goal of the Watershed Academy is to offer watershed coordinators training opportunities, both in the field and classroom, so that can more effectively work with farmers, landowners and other agricultural stakeholders to increase conservation adoption. The event also serves as an opportunity for networking and socializing for watershed coordinators and the broader conservation community in Iowa.
